Tell us: Why are you studying here?

“As a trained application developer, HOST’s combination of significant amounts of practice and its geographical position was the best option for me as I was able to continue my work at an advertising agency on Rügen.”

Practice-Oriented, Vibrant, International

Prospective students can choose from 29 accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree courses held in German and/or English. The courses include not only traditional fields of study such as engineering, electrical engineering and business administration, but also new and innovative degree courses such as IT Security and Mobile Systems, Motorsport Engineering and Health Economics. Currently, approximately 2,000 students from 55 countries are studying at the Schools of Business Administration, Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and artificial intelligence. That might not be many when compared to universities in larger towns, but in addition to the practice-oriented approach, it is above all the personal supervision that contributes to student success at UAS Stralsund. What’s more: The university doesn’t just have a family atmosphere; its family-friendliness and accessibility have been certified. That’s what you call a true host!

Innovation Motor for Combatting the Shortage of Experts

UAS Stralsund is one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s most important education institutions for training highly qualified experts. Not only local companies, but also businesses from all over Germany and across the globe are interested in the graduates from our highly ranked degree courses. Nearly all of the degree courses can also be taken as part of dual degree programmes with high levels of practice. This is made possible by the university’s strong ties to numerous companies. At the same time, UAS Stralsund’s application-based research is an important motor for the state’s economy.

Make the Most of Your Spare Time on Campus

And as studying is a big deal, but not everything, the campus provides various leisure activities. The student project teams such as Baltic Racing or Sundspace offer practical experience. Recently, the HOST was even able to celebrate its 5th European Championship title in a row! The AStA organizes parties, cultural events and joint learning opportunities. A wide range of sports activities is available on campus. And of course the university has its own sailing club.

Don’t forget: The nearest sandy beach is just a five-minute walk from campus.

High Quality of Life - Low Cost of Rent

There is another advantage of studying in Stralsund: Living costs are much lower than in many other university towns. An affordable flat with a high standard in the centre of town - not a problem in Stralsund. Of course, the Studierendenwerk (Student Services) also provides cheap accommodation in student halls of residence. A highlight: the on-campus student village, “Holzhausen”.

The Hanseatic city of Stralsund is located on the Baltic Sea in front of the popular holiday island of Rügen and with a direct boat connection to the picturesque, car-free island of Hiddensee. The Hanseatic city is surrounded inland by lakes, meadows and forests where you can enjoy the many hours of sunshine. Two nearby national parks offer fantastic nature experiences. The Hanseatic town of Stralsund belongs to UNESCO’s World Heritage and attracts visitors from all over the world. Various leisure activities and the rich cultural and party calendar make sure that the town continues to grow.
